Obituary

Jeanette A. Wannemacher

Cloverdale - Jeanette A. Wannemacher, 95 of Cloverdale died 12:57 p.m. Wednesday, November 22 at the Meadows of Kalida surrounded by her family.  She was born May 22, 1922 in Glandorf to the late Frank and Bertha (Stechschulte) Fortman, the third child and first born daughter in a family with five siblings.   On November 25, 1943, she married Herbert Wannemacher who died May 23, 1969 at the age of 49.

Jeanette leaves behind her 6 surviving children:  Edith Wannemacher of Findlay, Linda (Jason) Pickerman of Ft. Wayne, IN, Gary (Kerry) Wannemacher of Downers Grove, IL, Eugene "Gene" (Katrina) Wannemacher of Haines City, FL, Anne (Larry) Carter of Omaha, NE and Ellen (David) Schroeder of Glosgow, KY; two daughters-in-law: Judy Wannemacher of West Milton and Saundra Wannemacher of Greenville. SC. Also surviving  are her 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Juanita (Urban) Selhorst.     James Wannemacher, her oldest son, preceded her in death in 2015. She is also preceded by a sister, Valeta "Peg" Myers and three brothers: Eddie Fortman, Len Fortman and Elmer Fortman.

Jeanette was well known to hundreds of students throughout the Ottoville School system. She was cafeteria manager for over 22 years.  She was famous for her "pizza burgers" and always had a smile and a wink for the kids coming through the cafeteria line.

A devout Catholic at St. Barbara's,  a member of the Altar Sodality, and the Parish Council    She was also a member of the Cloverdale Garden Club, the Ohio Association of Public School Employees and the National Farmers' Association.  She was a friend and caregiver to many in the community, and could always be counted upon to send a birthday card to everyone she knew.

Jeanette stayed active into her later years with her community and church, her hobbies and interest  She was an accomplished seamstress, quilter, crocheter, gardener, cook and artist.  She loved to travel to visit her children and grandchildren who lived in other states.

The celebration of her life will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017 at St. Barbara's Catholic Church, Cloverdale with the Very Reverend Jerome Schetter officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson  Twp. and again on Saturday at the church for one hour prior to the Mass.  There will be a rosary service at 1:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home

Memorials may be given to Community Health Professional Hospice, Delphos; Sisters of Notre Dame, Toledo or donor's choice.
