Jeanette E. “Nettie” Gerdeman
OTTAWA – Jeanette E. “Nettie” Gerdeman, 95, of Ottawa, passed away at 8:52 p.m., Thursday, April 9, 2026, at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born September 13, 1930, in Columbus Grove to the late Herman and Anna (Leopold) Hermiller. On July 21, 1951, she married Lavern A. Gerdeman, who preceded her in death on October 28, 1998.
Survivors include three children: Pat Stechschulte, Ron (Jean) Gerdeman and Herm (Lauri) Gerdeman, all of Ottawa; eight grandchildren: Wade (Jodi) Stechschulte, Terry (Linda) Stechschulte, Andrea Ricker, Sydney Gerdeman, Taylor (Jordan) Good, Corey (Kelsi) Gerdeman, Brendon Gerdeman and Kylie (Drake) Lammers; fourteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Clifford Hermiller of Columbus Grove; a sister-in-law, Betty Hermiller of Columbus Grove; and in-laws, Gary (Judy) Gerdeman of Leipsic.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas Stechschulte; and five siblings: Virgil Hermiller, Frank Hermiller, Joseph Hermiller, Ruth Ann Hermiller and Kenneth Hermiller.
Jeanette was a homemaker and member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. She loved gardening, babysitting, keeping meticulously clean vehicles and baking. Jeanette was known for making the best chocolate chip cookies and red velvet cake. When others would visit, she always made sure they were entertained their whole stay.
The family would like to give a special thank you to The Meadows of Ottawa for their great care of Nettie.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 13, 2026, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday with a scripture service beginning at 5:50 p.m. and one hour prior to mass on Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
