Jennie Ann Hazelton

CONTINENTAL - Jennie Ann Hazelton, 87, of Continental, died 9:52 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice.  She was born May 25, 1931 in Continental to the late Adolf F. and Edna (Kirkendall) Miller.  On November 21, 1952, she married Lawrence "Jr." Hazelton.  He died March 22, 2008.

Survivors include two children: Don (Deb) Hazelton of Continental and Darlene (Dana) Prowant of Continental; a son-in-law, Clyde Varner Grand Rapids; seven grandchildren: Craig (Krista) Varner, Benjamin Eric (Becky) Varner, Kenny (Ashley) Hazelton, Katelyn (Eric) Zimmerman, Austin (Ashley) Prowant, Kyle (Sloane) Howard and Evan (Erica) Prowant; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor Pristash of Oberlin.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Kay Varner; a brother, Robert Miller; and a sister, Marion Bevis.

Jennie was a cashier in the cafeteria for Continental Local Schools.  She was also a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Continental and the Child Conservation League.

Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental with Pastor Charles Schmunk officiating.  Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday as well as one hour prior to the service Tuesday all at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Christ UMC, Defiance Inpatient Hospice or to the Continental Library.
