Jim E. Brinkman

OTTAWA – Jim E. Brinkman, 76, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 at his residence.  He was born April 14, 1947, in Glandorf to the late Cornelius and Genevieve (Michel) Brinkman.  On March 22, 2002, he married Cheryl A. Mershman, who preceded him in death on April 15, 2022.

Jim is survived by four children: Stephanie (Steve) Carlson of McComb, Chad Brinkman of Ottawa, Angie (David) Chamberlin of Pandora and Jimmy Siefer of Ottawa; eight grandchildren: Makayla, Elizabeth, Taylor, Tyler, Tiara, Taryn, Jamie and Joseph; twelve great-grandchildren: Candyce, Juvencia, Lucy, Jax, Mailen, Emmett, Allister, Thane, Everleigh, Scarlett, Atticus and Quinn; and seven siblings: Ruth (Bill) Storing of Clearfield, UT, Jane (David) Ripley, Mary (Frank) Mullins, Jude Cuevas, all of Ottawa, Lynn (Raymie) Dible of Carey, Mark (Ruth) Brinkman of Glandorf and Gary Brinkman of Ottawa.

He was also preceded in death by three siblings: Harry Brinkman, Carl Brinkman and Martha Brinkman.

Jim retired from Philips, Ottawa. He was a member of the Ottawa VFW.  Jim enjoyed golfing, bowling and baseball.  He holds the OG record for most strikes in a game (17) and most no-hitter games from 1965.  He had the best sense of humor and loved to embarrass people, all in good fun of course.  Jim was loved by many and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

A celebration of life will begin at 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2024 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
