Jimmy A. Stephey
OAKWOOD – Jimmy A. Stephey, 76, of Oakwood, passed away at 6:36 p.m., Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Defiance Inpatient Hospice. He was born April 13, 1950, in Defiance to the late Lawrence “Jack” and Viola (Beard) Stephey. On April 2, 1976, he married Mary L. Wheeler, who survives in Oakwood.
Other survivors include six children: Della Stephey of Oakwood, Loretta (Eric) Stephey of Continental, Jack (Lucilla) Stephey of Grover Hill, Tony (Bobbi) Stephey of Arthur, Ivan Stephey of Grover Hill and Jimmy (Abigail) Stephey of Charloe; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two siblings: Bill (Wendy) Stephey of Melrose and Margaret (Nick) Fortney of Malinta; and a sister-in-law, Janet Stroup of Melrose.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Billy Stephey; and two siblings: Larry Stephey and Richard Stroup.
Jimmy retired from GM Powertrain, Defiance. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, working on cars, mowing grass, cutting wood and his beloved dogs, Maggie and Baby Girl.
Funeral services will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood with Rev. Ray Newsome officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
