Joan M. Schmenk
GLANDORF – Joan M. Schmenk, 79, of Glandorf, died at 8:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012 at The Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf.  She was born September 29, 1932 in McCartyville to the late Fred and Kathryn (Drexler) Behrns. On September 29, 1951 she married John F. Schmenk and he died July 12, 1996.  Surviving are 2 children: Shari (Ken) Warnecke of Kalida, Michael (Christiane) Schmenk of Marysville; 8 grandchildren: Laurie (Eric) Siefker, Krista (Nathan) Remlinger, Megan Schmenk, Matthew Schmenk, Rachael Langhals, JJ Langhals, David Langhals, Arianna Langhals; 5 great-grandchildren: Jade Siefker, Rosie Siefker, Lathan Remlinger, Kendra Remlinger, Audri Langhlas; a brother: Fred (Pat) Behrns of Ft.Wayne and a sister-in-law: Harriett Behrns of Ottawa.  She was preceded in death also by a daughter: Kimberly Schmenk-Langhals and a brother: Don Behrns.
Joan and her husband owned and operated the former Town Pump in Glandorf. She had worked at Jones Hardware and Ohio Power both in Lima and the Oak Restaurant in
Ottawa.  She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and its Altar Rosary Society. She was also a member of  the VFW Auxiliary Post 9142; American Legion Auxiliary Post 63 and Ottawa Eagles Auxiliary. Joan was a 1950 graduate of Kalida High School. She enjoyed meeting friends for dinner and going shopping or to a movie.  She loved cooking for her family, holiday gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Ottawa.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a
VFW Auxiliary service at 7:00 p.m.;  Eagles service at 7:15 pm and  parish Rosary at 7:30 p.m.all Wednesday, May 9, 2012.
