Joan M. Schimmoeller KALIDA – Joan M. Schimmoeller, 88, of Kalida died 6:21 a.m., Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born August 4, 1936, in Kalida to the late Jerome and Ethel (Rupert) Bendele. On May 10, 1958, she married Robert Schimmoeller who preceded her in death on November 3, 2011. She is survived by three daughters: Suzanne Hendershot of Lima, Lauri (Herm) Gerdeman of Ottawa and Lisa (Joe) Roebke of Kalida; ten grandchildren: Tyler, Kyle, Justin (Delaney) and Racheal Hendershot; Corey (Kelsi), Brendon Gerdeman and Kylie (Drake) Lammers; Austin (Megan); Logan (Mariah) and Evan (Emily Knight) Roebke; eight great-grandchildren: Oliver, Ila, Ezra, Theo, Noah, Henry, Gabriel, Isaiah and two on the way; and two brothers: Robert (Melanie) Bendele of Lima and Dennis (Judy) Bendele of Kalida. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Lincoln Roebke; and brother, Don (Yvonne) Bendele. Joan was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida. She loved her family and her special neighbors. Joan enjoyed working outside and going for walks. She had a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Funeral Mass will begin 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Phil Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and again on Wednesday 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
