Joan G. Schey LEIPSIC – Joan G. Schey, 93, of Leipsic, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at The Meadows of Leipsic. She was born on January 25, 1931, to the late Virgil and Dorothy (Schweitzer) Brecht. On September 29, 1949, she was united in marriage to Doyle W. Schey. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2003. Joan is survived by her children: Dwaine (Laurie) Schey of Defiance, OH, Jim Schey of Clearwater, FL and Judy Jaqua of Napoleon, OH; daughter-in-law,  Kelly Schey of Leipsic, OH; 10 grandchildren: Lyndsay (Kimberly Langston) Schey, Erica Schey, Rebecca (Andy Bucher) Schey, Jolene (Ryan) Armstrong, Krystal (Steve Ferguson) Schey, Melissa (Tim) Frye, Scott (Carole) Jaqua, Nathan (Desirae) Schey, Dylan (Rachel) Schey and Nick Schey; 9 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Charlene Brecht of Venice, FL. In addition to her husband, Doyle, she was also preceded in death by her son, Dale Schey; and her brother, Kenneth Brecht. The priorities in Joan's life were her faith, family, friends, flowers, gardening and being a farmer's wife. She graduated from Leipsic High School in 1948. Joan was a member of the former St. John's Lutheran Church, Leipsic, OH where she served as a Sunday School teacher, and as a president and secretary of the Ladies Group. Upon the closure of St. John's, she attended First Lutheran Church, Leipsic, OH, where she served as a member of church council and participated in the Bible study group. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at First Lutheran Church, Leipsic with Pastor George Zornow officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
