Joan Thompson
LEIPSIC - Joan Thompson, 87, of Leipsic died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at The Meadows of Kalida. She was born September 5, 1926 in Troy, NY to the late Thomas Bertram and Elizabeth M. (Snyder) Pilling. She married Stanley Williams in 1947 and they divorced. She married Charles J. Thompson in November of 1972 and he died July 11, 1997.
She is survived by a daughter: Sandra (Steven) Ruskey of Leipsic; 2 grandchildren: Marnie Shepherd and Jill (Roger) Niese both of Leipsic; 5 great-grandchildren: Tiana Warncke, Trevor Warncke, Raya Shepherd, Brittany Ruskey, and Kendra Niese; a sister: Nancy Bowser of Williston, VT; and a niece: Wendy Ewing of Fletcher, VT. She was also preceded in death by a brother: Thomas A. Pilling.
Joan was a homemaker. She loved flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be a private funeral service with burial at a later date in Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport, NJ. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.
