Joann R. Gerding

OTTAWA – Joann R. Gerding, 61, of Ottawa, passed away at 11:03 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  She was born August 1, 1962 in Lima to the late Joseph B. and Helen M. (Siefker) Gerding.

Joann is survived by six siblings:  Dennis (Shirley) Gerding of Columbus Grove, Allan (Mary Ann) Gerding, Julie (Gilbert) Riepenhoff, Susan (Rick) Erhart, all of Ottawa, David (Barbara) Gerding of Delphos, and Jeanne (Gary) Zeller of Kalida; a brother-in-law: Richard Burkhart of Celina; thirteen nieces and nephews: Sharon (Bryan) Maag, Mark (Tina) Gerding, Jeff (Tracy) Gerding, Ned (Jessica) Gerding, Angie (Kyle) Recker, Lori (Jake) Warnimont, Zac (Stacy) Riepenhoff, Jenna (Jeremy – dec.) Warnimont, Jill (Brian) Gilgenbach, Jodi (Shane) Maag, Josh Gerding, Jared Zeller, and Randy (Haylee Koester) Zeller.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Burkhart.

Joann was a RN at the Meadows of Ottawa.  She always taught her nieces and nephews to live by the Golden Rule "Do unto others as they would do to you."

Funeral service will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Deacon David Mass officiating.  Burial will take place at a later date.  A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. There will be a Celebration of Life held on February 11, 2024 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Glandorf Rod and Gun Club.
