John A. Boggs

CONTINENTAL - John Alanson Boggs, 92, of Continental, died  at 11:06 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Defiance Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born November 16, 1929 in Putnam County to the late Clarence and Florence (Huff) Boggs. He had been married to Mary Faye Gobble. On October 29, 1966, he married Donna Swinehart. She died September 26, 2007.

Survivors include four children: Michael Boggs of Summertown, TN, Sandra Boggs Cole of Ethridge, TN, Jonna Boggs of New Bavaria, and Julie (Michael) Valerio of Continental; three stepchildren: John (Laurie) Ball of Spencerville, Robin (Gregg) Sigler of Defiance and James Ball of Defiance; 27 grandchildren; an abundance of great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Boggs of MI.

He was also preceded in death by a stepson, Tony Ball; three sisters: Anna Goodman, Irma Tumblin, and Iris Stork; a brother, Lee Boggs and a half sister, Helen Turner.

John retired from General Motors, Defiance after 33 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. John loved old tractors and antiques, was a devout republican and a believer of Christ.

A graveside service will begin 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at North Mt. Zion Cemetery, Continental with Pastor Isaac Shelton Jr. officiating and military rites by the Continental American Legion. Arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental.
