John R. Brown

New Bavaria -  John R. Brown, 69, of New Bavaria, died 3:03 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2018 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.  He was born May 8, 1949 in Lima to the late Robert and Kathleen (Clement) Brown.  On June 9, 1973 he married Kay Kuhlman who survives.

John is also survived by three daughters:  Jackie (Jay) Schroeder of Glandorf, Jodi (Rod) Niese of Miller City and Jenny (Josh) Schroeder of Leipsic; eight grandchildren: Zach and Maddie Schroeder, Trevor, Evan, Isaac and Bryson Niese, Dylan and Ava Schroeder; eight siblings: Susan (John) Staley of Sandusky, Jeff (Pam) Brown of Centerville, Sandy Westrick of Ottawa, Joyce Weinandy of Columbus, Phyllis (Allan) Scheckelhoff of Wauseon, Greg (Cindy) Brown  and Tom (Annette) Brown both of Leipsic and Robyn (Joe) DeMay of Hamilton.  He is also preceded by a infant brother, Doug and two brothers-in-law: Bill Westrick and Gary Weinandy.

John was retired from General Motors, Defiance. He was a member of the National Guard during the Vietnam Era, a member of the Miller City American Legion, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria. He enjoyed watching NCIS and was the # 1 fan of his grandchildren's events. He also enjoyed gardening, camping, and riding his scooter around visiting family and friends, being a part of the GM breakfast crew, and a volunteer at the food bank.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria with Fr. Nicholas Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by the Miller City American Legion. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will  be a Rosary Service at 1:30 p.m.

Memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Church for masses or to the Putnam County Cancer Assistance Program (CAP).
