John B. Fanger, Sr. LIMA – John B. Fanger, Sr., 85 of Lima died 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at The Meadows of Kalida. He was born August 3, 1939, in Kalida to the late Louis and Geraldine (Sheibley) Fanger. On June 23, 1962, he married Linda Sue Zeller. She died February 21, 2024. Survivors include two sons: John Fanger, Jr., and Mark (Missy Tuach) Fanger both of Lima; a grandson, Mark Fanger, Jr.; and two brothers: James (Nancy) Fanger of Chesterland and Daniel (Rebecca) Fanger of Kalida. John retired as Material Manager for Westinghouse of Lima where he was also head of the Westinghouse Retirees. He was a graduate of Kalida High School, received his bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati and his master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Lima and an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bearcats and Shawnee Indians. John helped found the Shawnee Soccer Association and Shawnee Basketball Association. Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2024, at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. Steve Schroeder. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Love Funeral Home, Ottawa.
