John R. Kistler

OTTAWA - John R. Kistler, 77, of Ottawa, died at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born January 28, 1948, in Ottawa to the late Thomas and Anna (McMonigal) Kistler.  On January 28,1970, he married Sandra M. Lentz, who preceded him in death on June 30, 2016.

He is survived by three children: John (Jackie) Kistler of Ottawa, Sheila (Matt) Dunlap of Florida and Megan (Joey) Grothause of Pandora; six grandchildren: Josh, Hunter, Jourdyn, Logan, Breckin and Tressel; and four siblings: Roger Kistler, Betty Bogaert, Mildred Zachrich and Mary Lou Wolford.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Kistler.

John retired from Philips, Ottawa. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during Vietnam. John enjoyed fishing, cars, Harley-Davidsons, and tinkering in the garage.

No services will be held at this time. Burial will be at later date at Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove with military rites. Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
