John V. Newell

LEIPSIC – John V. Newell, 90, of Leipsic, passed away at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at the Meadows of Ottawa.  He was born November 27, 1931, in Van Buren Township to the late Osro and Donna (Stanfield) Newell.  On December 4, 1949, he married Helen Lindsay, she preceded him in death on June 15, 1992.  Then in February of 1995 he married Patricia Schroeder Kreinbrink, she survives in Leipsic.

John is also survived by four children: Robert (Pat) Newell, James Newell, Ron (Patty) Newell, Jerry (Jane) Newell all of Leipsic; two stepchildren: Mark Kreinbrink of Columbus, Debbra Rice of Pandora; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a brother: Lloyd (Romona) Newell; and a great-granddaughter: Mallory Maag.

John was a 1949 graduate of Leipsic High School. He was a member of the Oakdale United Methodist Church, Deshler.  He was a lifelong farmer and had retired from the Leipsic Post Office with 29 Years of service.  John was a lifetime Vikings fan and a Leipsic Booster member.  He enjoyed following his grandkids in all their sports.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Rev. Chris Walter officiating.  Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery, Leipsic.  A visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
