COLUMBUS - John E. “Jack” Quinn, 92, of Columbus, formerly of Glandorf, passed away at 6:29 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 2026, at his daughter’s residence. He was born May 10, 1934, in Glandorf to the late Urban and Mary (Giesken) Quinn. On August 18, 1956, he married Carolyn Jean Heckman, who preceded him in death on January 13, 2015.
Survivors include three children: Julie (Todd) Bowman of Woodville, Jeff Quinn of The Villages, FL and Joyce (Willy) Merrick of Columbus; eight grandchildren: Chad Stoffan, Erin Stoffan, Ryan (Ashley) Bowman, Brock Bowman, Stephanie (Jeremy) Squire, Ashley (Kyle) Storey, Austin (Anna) Mueller and Andrick Mueller; nine great-grandchildren: Riley Ott, Savannah Mueller, Hunter Bowman, Emma Storey, Tucker Bowman, Penelope Mueller, Jackson Squire, Bastian Mueller and Quinn Stoffan; and a sister, Betty (Paul) Stechschulte of Columbus Grove.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Bentley Bowman; and siblings: Margaret (Ray) Stechschulte, Cletus "Jake" (Dorothy) Quinn, Mary Louise (Paul) Deters, Louis (Ruth) Quinn, Jeanette (John) Bowers, Clarine (Carl) Wilhelm, Dorothy (Norm) Schmenk, Carl (Skip) Quinn, Dick (Ruth) Quinn, Bob (Marty) Quinn, Emma Delores Quinn, and Mary Jane (Gene) Stechschulte.
Jack owned Sinclair Station with his brother Bob, worked at JCP Auto Center in Findlay, and was a salesman for Durkee Spices. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and Holy Family Parish, Hilton Head Island, SC and St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church, Dublin, Ohio. Jack was a lifelong musician playing in the polka bands Steve Meyer and the Polka Brass and the Alpenlanders, singing in the Glandorf Choir, and always seizing the opportunity to tickle the ivories or harmonize a hymn. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, enjoying faith and fraternity while serving his community and no doubt always volunteering for the beer tent! Jack was an incredibly caring person who would truly do anything to ease the suffering of others – whether that be supporting multiple charities or cracking endless jokes, he was always uplifting others! He loved spending time with family and friends and especially loved heading to Florida for the winters. He enjoyed the opportunity to spend so much time with his children in his later years.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating. He will be buried in the church cemetery alongside his wife at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
