John R. Siefker
MILLER CITY – John R. Siefker, 80, of Miller City passed away at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at The University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, MI surrounded by his family.
He was born October 23, 1932, in Glandorf to Lawrence and Dora Inkrott Siefker who preceded him in death. On June 26, 1956 he married Dolores Leis who survives in Miller City. Also surviving are his children: Karen (Tim) Meyer of Dayton, Linda (Chuck) Dries of Woodbine, GA, Alan (Vicki) Siefker of Savannah, GA, Jeff (Pam) Siefker of Miller City, Gene (Deb) Siefker of Miller City, Connie Wenzinger of Findlay, Randy (Beth) Siefker of Leipsic; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers: Alvin (Doris) Siefker of Mesa, AZ., Leon "Pete" (Pat) Siefker of Columbus Grove, Donald (Alice) Siefker of Glandorf, and Ken (Irena) Siefker of Ottawa; and 3 sisters: Alice Gable of Hamler, Rose (Fred) Fortman of Van Wert, and Dorothy Wichman of Seattle, WA.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Arline Snyder and 2 brothers: Amos and Norbert "Nub" Siefker.
John co-owned and operated Siefker's General Store and meat processing business along with his wife, Dolores. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City and a graduate of Glandorf High School. He was also a member of Miller City Volunteer Fire Department for 45 years, Miller City Sportsmen Club, Ohio Knights of Columbus #1757 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2234 of Ottawa. John enjoyed being with his family and attending their activities.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City with Fr. Stephen Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a Scripture service at 2 p.m., a Miller City Fireman Service at 7 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
