John L. Warner

CONTINENTAL – John L. Warner, 78, of Continental, passed away at 1:24 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was born November 1, 1947, in Bluffton to the late William and Marie (Downing) Warner. On March 7, 1970, he married Nancy Bibler, who survives.

John was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War era. He was a lifelong farmer and worked for 10 years at General Motors in Defiance before retiring after 35 years as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

A natural handyman, John enjoyed spending countless hours in his barn, where he could often be found repairing farm equipment, woodworking, and working on a variety of projects. He was an avid supporter of Continental Pirate basketball and was a longtime season ticket holder. John also served on the Continental Board of Education from 1987 to 2005, including serving as board president. He was a member of Continental American Legion Post 541.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, John is also survived by a son, Martin (Jennifer) Warner; two grandsons, Jaden and Daxton; and a sister, Rose Marie (John) Stanton.

He was also preceded in death by his infant sister, Joyce Warner and sister, Ruth Anne (Donald) Sigler.

Services are pending at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental.
