JOSEPH A. KARL, Jr.
GLANDORF - Joseph A. Karl, Jr., 79, of Glandorf, died 5:15 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2014 at his residence. He was born May 24, 1935 in Glandorf, to the late Joseph and Mary (Romer) Karl, Sr. On July 1, 1961, he married Maxine Maag and she survives in Glandorf.
Also surviving are 4 children: Joe (Dot) Karl III, Jo Ann (Todd) Emmons, Dianna (Scott) Brinkman and Terrance (Susan) Maas all of Glandorf; 10 grandchildren: Joshua and Jacob Karl, Noah Emmons, Allyson and Emma Brinkman and Robert, Jason, Jill, Zach and Dylan Maas; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Margaret Gillette of Ottawa, Cathy (Ron) Salsburey and Mary Barb Klausing both of Glandorf; and a sister-in-law, Eloise Karl of Kalida.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Rose Ann (Urban) Boecker; a brother: Robert Karl.
Joe retired from Dot Lines Trucking Firm in Lima. He had also worked at Glandorf Tile Company, Amos "Dick" Gerding Construction and had owned Karl's Frame and Front End Alignment. Joe was a US Army Veteran. He and Maxine had worked as the janitor's for 3 years at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Glandorf, the Teamsters Union and an avid NASCAR fan with Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. among his favorites.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating, Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa American Legion, VFW, and AMVETS. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m.
