Joseph Koch

OTTAWA - Joseph Koch, 85, of Ottawa died at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born March 28, 1932 in Ottawa to the late Fred and Veronica (Brinkman) Koch. On October 30, 1957 he married Alice Ellerbrock who survives in Ottawa. They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.

Also surviving are six children, Kathy (Tim) Fruchey of Ottawa, Beth (Steve) Birkemeier of Columbus Grove, Alan (Ann) Koch of Ottawa, Roger (Cheryl) Koch of Glandorf, Kevin (Tricia) Koch of Glandorf, and Sharon (Randy) Verhoff of Ottawa;  twenty-one grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Rita) Koch of Glandorf; a sister, Doris Horstman of Ft. Jennings; and in-laws, Julie Koch of Columbus Grove and Bob (Marilyn) Hamburg of Kalida.

He is preceded in death by his siblings:  Marie (Norbert) Schroeder, Ruth (Lee) Schroeder, Rich (Doris) Koch, Ed Koch, Helen (Dick) Nussbaum, Clara (Paul) Nadler and Irene Hamburg; sister-in-law:  Mary Koch and brother-in-law: Don Horstman

Joe was a lifelong farmer. He was a 1950 graduate of Glandorf High School and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove and Columbus Grove Knights of Columbus.  He loved sports and enjoyed his grandchildren's events and truly was a special part of their lives.

A Mass of Christian  Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2017 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Columbus Grove with Fr. Tom Extejt officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 4 p.m. and a K of C Rosary at 8 p.m.
