Josephine E. Friend
CONTINENTAL - Josephine E. Friend, 97, of Continental died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Hospice of Dayton. She was born October 11, 1916 in Monroe Township to the late Charles and Mary (Bleeks) Knoll. On March 16, 1935 she married Clarence H. Friend who died September 20, 2006.
She is survived by 3 children: Walter (June) Friend of Ft. Wayne, IN., Shirley (Robert) Schweitzer of Defiance, and Connie Friend of Centerville; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Barbara Donley Burnett and a brother: Earl Knoll.
Josephine worked at Goldenetz Supermarket in Defiance.
A Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Pastor Brent Gibson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in North Mt. Zion Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Dayton, Continental EMS, or a charity of the donor's choice.
