Joyce A. Jerwers
KALIDA – Joyce A. Jerwers, 62, of Kalida died at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her family following a 17 month courageous battle with ovarian cancer.  She was born January 16, 1950 in Defiance to Elmer and Audrey (Wenzinger) Vorst.  Her mother is deceased. Her father survives in Columbus Grove. In 1971, she married Donald L. Jerwers. He died January 2, 2011.
Also surviving are 4 children: Jeremy (Gina) Jerwers of Kalida, Jennifer (Bryan) Jerwers-Dulle of Upper Arlington, Kara (Dan) Jerwers-Grime of Glandorf and Kent (Darcie) Jerwers of Wapakoneta; 6 grandchildren: Shelby Jerwers, Eli, Eva and Evan Dulle, Lana and Levi Grime; 3 sisters: Judy (Barry) Bastian of Hilton Head, SC, Barb (Doug) Sodders of Lima, Carol (Randy) Hemker of Louisville, KY; 3 brothers: Tim (Wendy) Vorst of Fairview, NC, Pat (Julie) Vorst of Columbus Grove and Tom (Jean) Wenzinger of Ottawa.  She was preceded in death also by a sister: Susan Vorst.
Joyce was the owner of J& J Carry Out and Kalida Dairy Whip for 38 years. She was the secretary at Donald L. Jerwers, CPA and a homemaker.  She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida and its Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. Joyce loved riding on her golf cart with her children and grandchildren; attending area festivals; traveling with her family, spending time at the lake and visiting with friends.  She enjoyed playing the accordion.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township (on the corner of Rts. 224 & 634).  There will be an Altar Rosary and CLC service Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
