Juan Flores

OTTAWA - Juan Flores, 84, of Ottawa, went home to Jesus on October 23, 2017 at 9:38 p.m. at his residence in the loving care of the staff of The Meadows of Leipsic.

Juan was born to the late Francisco and Maria Flores on July 12, 1933 near Laredo, Texas and then grew up in Robstown, Texas. His surviving family reside near Corpus Christi, Texas. He spoke fondly of his family; brothers, Frank and Alberto; sisters, Anita, Emma, Lupe, and Isabela; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Before residing in Ottawa, Juan worked as a farmhand all over the Eastern United States. Juan retired from Philips after 29 years and then worked at the Ottawa Water Treatment Plant as a part time employee. He could always be spotted riding his three-wheeled bike across town whatever the weather-even in a blizzard. Juan enjoyed working hard and took great pride in it. He enjoyed the simple things in life.  He was looked after by many loving friends, including special friends, Denny and Jayne Schroeder.

Juan was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church, Ottawa where he volunteered his janitorial skills, helped in the new church construction, sat in the front row every Sunday, and blessed the congregation by singing his favorite songs, "His Eye is on the Sparrow" and "He Touched Me". He had a heart for Jesus and his gentle, gracious spirit was a refection of Him. Juan was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Faith Baptist Church, Ottawa with Rev. Denny Coates officiating. Burial will follow in Pomeroy Cemetery, Ottawa. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church.
