Juanita Alvarado
CONTINENTAL – Juanita "Janie" Alvarado, 90, of Continental, died at 1:12 am Saturday, April 07, 2012 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born February 20, 1922 in Yorktown, TX to the late Santiago and Elvida (Sanchez) Davilla. On September 7, 1940, she married Agapito "Pete" Alvarado, Sr. He died December 1, 2008. Surviving are 4 children: Mary Scarberry of Ottawa, Maggie Alvarado of Traverse City, MI, Adella (Junior) Workman of Continental and Rick Alvarado of Broken Arrow, OK;
40 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 10great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Rosa DeLeon of Corpus Christi, TX and Dora DeLeon of Lubbock, TX; a daughter-in-law: Minnie Alvarado of Continental and a son-in-law: Mike Good of Continental.
She was preceded in death also by 4 sons: Santiago "Jim" Alvarado, Jose Alvarado, Agapito "Pete" Alvarado, Jr. and Gilbert Alvarado; 4 daughters: Eva Esquvial, Alica Alvarado, Julie Bernal, and Elizabeth Good; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister: Zenaida DeLeon and 4 brothers: Philipe Davilla, Abelardo Davilla, Robert DeLeon, Raul DeLeon.
Janie was a homemaker and had worked at Libby's in Leipsic. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Continental. She enjoyed canning, sewing, gardening and cooking. Her door was always open and no one left hungry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Continental with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and one hour prior to service on Tuesday at the
Church.
