Julia Lee Nichols

OTTAWA – Julia Lee Nichols, 84, of Ottawa, passed away at 4:12 p.m., Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. She was born August 5, 1942, in Lima to the late Kenneth and Marian (Roof) Davidson. On July 3, 1982, she married Darrell Nichols, who preceded her in death on September 29, 2009.

Survivors include a son, Mike (Kathy) Davidson of Ottawa; three stepchildren: William (Kathy) Nichols, Robert (Linda) Nichols and Lucinda (John) Vasquez, all of Ottawa; two grandchildren: Molly (Tyler) Penwell and Wesley (Amara Shepherd) Davidson; and two siblings: James Davidson of Cridersville and Jane Mershman of Ottawa.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Michele Rathbun; and a brother, John Davidson.

Julia was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and its Altar Rosary Society. Julia loved spending time with her family and her pets, especially her beloved cat, Max.

Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2026, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Life Center, Ottawa prior to Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Council On Aging or Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School, Ottawa.
