Karen S. Smith

Columbus Grove -- Karen S. Smith, 73, of Columbus Grove, died 11:37 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2016 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. She was born March 27, 1943 in Deshler to the late Ernest L. and Helen L. (Spitnale) Baer. On February 17, 1962 she married Kenneth P. Ricker who died March 13, 1994.

She is survived by four children: Kimberly (Todd) Keck of Columbus Grove, Lori (Eric) McGahey of Santa Monica, CA, Daniel (Kimberly) Ricker of New Braunfels, TX, Kristen (Jon) Harris of Lima; ten grandchildren: Holli, Dana, Ryan, Austin, Zack, Abbey, Kenna, Paige, Benjamin and Sophie; and 6 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.  She was preceded in death by a son: Jeffrey Ricker; and a granddaughter: Emily McGahey.

Karen was retired from the Ford Engine Plant in Lima, and was a member of the Lima Community Church of Nazarene She enjoyed being active, traveling and spending time at Indian Lake. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending sporting events, and she made great cookies.

A funeral service will begin 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
