Karen Kay Schroeder

Leipsic - Karen Kay Schroeder, 73, of Leipsic died 5:20 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2017 at her residence. She was born March 7, 1944 in Napoleon to the late Willis and Rose Mary Croninger.  On August 14, 1965 she married Leon "George" L. Schroeder.

Karen is survived by her two children: Laura Kay (Denny) Badertscher of  Bluffton, Terry "Butch" (Melinda) Schroeder of Leipsic; 7 grandchildren: Kristi (Ben) Montgomery, Christa Woolum, Ryan (Karis) Badertscher, Tyler Badertscher, Anthony Hites, Brenna Schroeder, Aubree Schroeder;  and 4 great-grandchildren: Carlee Woolum, Alivia Montgomery, Addilynn Montgomery, Raelynn Hites and a great-grandson on-the-way; a sister: Carol (Walter) Sommerfelt of Collierville, TN; a brother: Willis J. Croninger of Deshler; and in-laws: Rita Odey of Toledo, Kathleen Schroeder, Leona Korte, Norman (Marilyn) Schroeder, Othmer (Rita) Schroeder, and Fanny Schroeder all of Leipsic. She was also preceded in death by a great-grandson: Laken Woolum; a sister-in-law: Donna Croninger; and four brothers-in-law: Harold Schroeder, Cleo Schroeder,  Clifton Odey, and Chuck Korte.

Karen was a retired bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic. She enjoyed camping at Cotton Wood Lakes in Versailles, sprint car racing, Cleveland Indians, NASCAR, and Deshler Corn City Kids Class get-togethers. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and her great-grandchildren's activities. She loved her cats and dogs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. William Pifher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and one hour prior to Mass on Wednesday at St. Mary's Parish Life Center. A Parish Rosary will be said 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
