Karl A. Buerger

GLANDORF - Karl A. Buerger, 88, of Glandorf passed away peacefully at 4:46 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at his residence in Glandorf.  Karl is survived by his wife of 49 years, SueAnne.  He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Karl was born on June 23, 1937, in Bamberg, Germany to the late Ernst and Caroline (Koerver) Buerger.  He was raised in Anrochte, Germany.  He was a high school exchange student in Kalida.  He returned to Germany where he completed his education with a degree in Agronomy.  He later immigrated to Ohio where he proudly served in the US Army.

On July 6, 1976, he married SueAnne (Donovan).  There are six children: Debbie (Dale) Sloan, Timothy (Betsy) Hansen, Connie (Rick) Connelly, Amy (Michael) Uhrich, Steve (Rosemary) Buerger and Anissa (Michael Singleton) DeMille.   Together they created a beautiful family filled with love and laughter.  There are 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Karl enjoyed farming and spent many years working at Philips, Ottawa, where he retired in 1992.  He was a master woodworker.  Karl took pride in crafting gifts for family and friends.  Among his most notable creations are a cross drawn by his grandson, Ross Hansen and an eagle that was presented to President George W. Bush.

Karl's funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Father Matt Keller officiating.  Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Glandorf with military rites by Ottawa American Legion, VFW, AMVETS and DAV. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home.

Karl will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
