Kathleen Hippensteel
Ottawa – Kathleen Hippensteel, 63, of Ottawa, OH past away peacefully at 2:40 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born November 23, 1948 in Wabash, IN to the late Vernon R. and Veronica (Miklos) Hippensteel.
She is survived by her brother: Thomas (Linda) Hippensteel of North Manchester, IN; nephew: Nathan (Jessamine) Hippensteel; niece: Tyffany Hippensteel; a great-nephew: Brecken Hippensteel; a great-niece: Noelle Hippensteel; and her beloved dog, Jackie.
Kathleen was a retired Special Education/Intervention Specialist for the Ottawa-Glandorf Schools, Ottawa, OH. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, OH where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a graduate of Manchester High School, North Manchester, IN. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Manchester College, North Manchester, IN, where she majored in History and English. She received her Masters in Education from St. Francis University, Fort Wayne, IN. Kathleen was very interested in the Arts, in particular the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Stratford, Canada, for over 30 years. She was a volunteer at the Putnam County Red Cross, member of the Ottawa-Glandorf Classroom Teachers Association and Ohio Education Association; and the Putnam County Retired Teachers Association. Kathy was an avid reader, traveler, collector of swans and Delacroix pictures. She was a history buff having traveled to many battlefields. She also enjoyed vacationing at Edisto Beach, SC, with her cousin Diane and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, OH, Fr. Alfons Minja officiating. Burial will be approximately 3:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN with Larry Hall officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, OH where a scripture service will be held 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
