Keith C. Keck

OAKWOOD - Keith C. Keck, 91, of Oakwood, slipped off to heaven with family surrounding him with love at 1:58 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2016 at Defiance Regional Medical Center.  He was born December 30, 1924 in Oakwood to the late Clifford and Gertrude (Fuller) Keck.  On August 10, 1949, he married Colleen Jennings.  They have been married for 66 years and she survives in Oakwood.

Other survivors include four children: Deborah (Jacob) Okuley of Continental, Marcia (Dennis) Cline of Defiance, Cheryl (Bob) Thrasher of Oakwood and Sandra Keith Keck Hartzell of Oakwood.  eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister: Helen Spitnale of Continental.

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Rebecca Marie Hawkey; a son-in-law: Mike Hartzell and a sister: Marilyn Spitnale.

Keith was a life long farmer and also worked at SK Wayne Tool in Defiance where he was a union representative.  He was a WWII US Navy Veteran and a member of the Oakwood American Legion and AmVets #1991. He was a past president for the Oakwood Mutual Telephone Company, member of the NW Ohio State School Board, Paulding Exempted Village School Board and Vantage School Board.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood with Pastor Stan Harmon officiating.  Burial will follow in Little Auglaize Cemetery, Melrose with military rites by the Oakwood American Legion.  Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Monday and one hour prior to the funeral Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude's or ProMedica of Defiance.
