CONTINENTAL – Kenneth A. Mullett, 93, of Continental, passed away peacefully at 11:38 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at his residence and his wife, Norma J. (Kimmey) Mullett, 89, of Continental, passed away peacefully at 9:22 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
Kenneth was born August 13, 1930, in Leipsic to the late Carl L. and Mabel H. (Michel) Mullett. Norma was born April 28, 1934, in Minster to the late James R. and Marcele (Mormon) Kimmey. When they met one another, it was love at first sight. They were married on May 17, 1969.
They are survived by four children: Pamela Tutwiler of Continental, Tina (Dennis) Mareane of Fremont, IN, Kathy Sprouse of Continental and Daniel (Linda) Meeks of Columbus Grove; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Norma's siblings: James Kimmey, Pat Bradley, Judy Craft and David (Robin) Kimmey.
In addition to both of their parents, they were also preceded in death by Norma's brother, Fred Kimmey and Kenneth's sister, Norma VanDemark.
Kenneth was a retired bus driver for Continental Schools and Brookhill Industries. He and his wife, Norma, were co-owners of Lucky Lounge and Lanes in Continental. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War and was a member of the Continental American Legion Post #541, Ottawa VFW, Defiance AMVETS, Christ Lutheran Church, Continental and previous member of the 40-8. Kenneth greatly loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Norma was also a retired bus driver for Continental Schools and Brookhill Industries. She was a member of the Continental American Legion Auxiliary and Dupont Church of the Brethren. Norma loved going to church, tending to her flowers and sitting on the swing outside taking in nature's beauty. She also loved her family immensely, especially her children and grandchildren.
A joint funeral service for Kenneth and Norma will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2024, at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Rev. Terry Porter and Rev. Solomon Okang officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery, Continental with military rites by the Continental American Legion, Ottawa VFW, American Legion and AMVETS. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and again on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Continental Fire Department, Continental EMS or Continental American Legion Auxiliary.
