Kenneth "Gene" E. Bennett
Oakwood – Kenneth "Gene" E. Bennett, 83, of Oakwood, died Friday evening, January 6, 2012 at his residence. He was born May 6, 1928 in Wayne, Michigan to the late Dirl and M. "Peggy" (Wenser) Bennett. On May 29, 1948, he married Wanda J. Keck who died January 6, 2011.
He is survived by two daughters: Sharon (Arden) Peck of Defiance and Karen Dangler of Paulding; three grandchildren: Joanna Peck, Jamison (Melissa) Peck and Leslie (KC) Long; and four great-grandchildren: Addyson Long, Jackson Long, Edreanne Peck and Kendal Peck. Preceding him in death is a grandson: Bradly Dangler and two brothers: Jack and Larry Bennett.
Kenneth was a retired truck driver and custodian from Paulding High Schools. He also was a retired farmer. He was a member of Twin Oaks United Methodist Church in Oakwood.
Funeral service will begin 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood with Rev. Eric Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood.
Memorials may be given to the Twin Oaks United Methodist Church.
