Kenneth T. Fortman
GLANDORF – Kenneth T. Fortman, 85, of Glandorf died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at The Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf. He was born September 10, 1926 in Lima to the late Fred and Hilda (Kuhlman) Fortman. On May 28, 1949 he married Mary Ann Schipper who died February 12, 1975. He then married Ann Nienberg on August 27, 1976 and she survives in Glandorf.
Also surviving are 7 children: Jim (Susan) Fortman of Phoenix, AZ, Mark (Mary) Fortman of Colorado Springs, CO, Randy (Tina) Fortman of Glandorf, Ann (Gary) Kleman of Kalida, Dave (Gina) Fortman of Cincinnati, Amanda (Andrew) Recker of Cleveland, and Andrew Fortman of Tucson, AZ; 18 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and 3 brothers: Fred (Rosie) Fortman of Van Wert, Jerry (Judy) Fortman of Columbus Grove, and Paul (Joyce) Fortman of Ottawa.
Ken was a retired car salesman. During his retirement he worked at Wal-Mart in Ottawa and the Olde Town Car Wash in Glandorf. He was member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and it's Men's Society. He was a lifetime member of Ottawa Eagles and Ottawa Knights of Columbus; and a social member of Ottawa VFW and American Legion. Ken had been an Ottawa Village Councilman; enjoyed playing cards, bowling and was inducted into the Putnam County Bowling Hall of Fame in 1986. He loved life and lived it to the fullest by spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members. He enjoyed camping at Huggie Bear Campground and gardening.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Ken Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ottawa. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a Knights of Columbus and Parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
