Kenneth R. Hovest
LAKEWOOD, CA. - Kenneth R. Hovest, age 76, of Lakewood, CA, and formerly of Glandorf, died February 14, 2012 in Los Angeles, CA. He was born March 19, 1936 in Glandorf to the late Albert & Blanche (Recker) Hovest.
Kenneth was a 1953 graduate of Glandorf High School where he was valedictorian. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked at Nelson Manufacturing in Ottawa before moving to Cleveland and then to California. He was the owner of ProVac Cleaning of Lakewood, CA. Kenneth was also a member of St. Bonifas Catholic Church in Los Angeles.
He is survived by three brothers: James (Ruth) Hovest of Gilboa, Joseph (Linda) Hovest of Kalida, and Albert Hovest Jr. of Columbus Grove; three sisters: Barbra (Donald) Michel of Broken Arrow, OK, Janet (Thomas) Hermiller of Columbus Grove, and Darlene (Timothy) Parys of Bowling Green, KY; a sister-in-law Janet Hovest of Glandorf and a brother-in-law Larry Moore of Fort Jennings. He was preceded in death by a brother Melvin Hovest and a sister Sandra Moore.
Burial was at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA with full military rites on February 21, 2012.
A memorial mass will be held on March 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa for relatives and friends. Fr. Alfons Minja will officiate. Local military rites will be held following memorial mass by the Ottawa VFW and American Legion.
