Kenneth R. "Ken" Shidler

LEIPSIC – Kenneth R. Shidler, 83, of Leipsic, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 at his residence. He was born March 24, 1939 in Grelton to the late Roy William "Bill" Shidler and Ruth (Kitchen) Shidler.  On February 11, 1962, he married Diane Myers, who survives in Leipsic.

Other survivors include two children: Pam (Mike) Knueven and Greg Shidler, both of Deshler; exchange student, Kirsi (Jukka Oikarri) Poyhonen of Finland; four grandchildren: Sadie Knueven, Lacey (Josh) Powell, Lindy (Kenny) Brand and Jake (Sierra) Shidler; nine great-grandchildren: Marlee Powell, Brezlee Powell, Grady Powell, Kyla Wilson, Konlee Wilson, Wyatt Brand, Kestlee Brand, Delanee Brand and Rowyn Shidler; three siblings: Norman Shidler of Tampa, FL, Robert (Linda) Shidler of Grand Rapids, Ohio and Darlene (Richard) Hardesty of Liberty Center; In-law's: Gary (Patty) Myers of Deshler, Dennis (Dawn) Myers of Leipsic, Joe (Nancy) Myers of Leipsic, Vickie Myers of Deshler and Barb Myers of Valdosta, GA; special caretakers: Stephanie Troyer, Carolyn Schoenauer and Sharon Peck; and lots of special nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors.

He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Karol Shidler; and brother-in-law, Norm Myers.

Ken retired in 1999 from Campbell's Soup, Napoleon after 43 years of employment. He was a 1957 graduate of Malinta-Grelton High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard.  Ken loved riding his Cushman and was a member of the North Central Ohio Cushman Club. He was the 4-H Kountry Kids advisor for many years. He enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and fish in his pond, riding the golf cart with his grandkids, the coffee club and spending time with his family.  After his initial cancer diagnosis, Ken was introduced to FROG's (Fully Rely on God).  He enjoyed collecting frogs and sharing them with his family.

A funeral service for Ken will begin 5:00 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2022 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Robert Shidler officiating.  Visitation will be held from 2 – 5 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County CAP, Challenged Champions Equestrian Center, Bridge Palliative Care or a charity of the donor's choice.
