Kenneth R. Pittman

LIMA – Kenneth R. Pittman, 86 of Lima, died 6:15 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Smiths Mill Health Campus, New Albany, OH.  He was born April 17, 1937, in Goldsboro, NC to the late Jesse William and Alberta (Raper) Pittman. He was married to Ruth Smith (deceased) and then Marilyn Pittman.

Other survivors include seven children: Kenneth Jr. (Denise) Pittman of Santee, CA, Bill (Chris) Pittman of Indialantic, FL, Wendy (Donald) Strickland of Goldsboro, NC, Cindy (Ken) Ferguson of New Bern, NC, Martha (Steven) Verhoff of Richlands, NC, Nicholas (Lynda) Pittman of Miller City and Jesse (Jessica) Pittman of Johnstown; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Best of Goldsboro, NC.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Pittman; a brother, Bill (Emma Lee) Pittman; and a brother-in-law, Tony Best.

Ken was the owner of Pittman Contracting and loved to farm.  He was a hard worker and good with numbers.  Ken made many people new homeowners by buying, fixing, and financing homes for those who could not have afforded it.  He was a family man and great storyteller.  He enjoyed golfing, watching westerns, gardening, and all sports including the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes.  After retirement, he became an avid self-taught painter.  Ken especially loved eating ice cream with his grandchildren.

Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2024, at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Pastor Steven Henderson officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Miller City. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
