Krystal Lee Byrne

Ottoville – Krystal Lee Byrne, 30, of Ottoville died 7:43 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  She was born August 23, 1985, in Lima to Rick and Jayne (Miller) Byrne.

She is survived by her brother: Joshua (Teresa) Byrne of Ottoville; Godson and nephew: Garrett Byrne; paternal grandparents: Bob (Jean) Byrne of Ottoville; maternal grandmother:  Beatrice Miller Smith of Delphos; her aunts and uncles:  Mike (Jean) Byrne, Carl (Nancy) Byrne, and Shirley Wilhelm, all of Ottoville; Randy (Nancy) Miller of Texas, Sharon (Bill) Long of Indiana, Steve (Ann) Miller of Georgia, Nancy (Bruce) Wallenhaupt of Van Wert, Pete (Julie) Miller of Iowa, Mark (Kathy) Miller of Michigan, and Lisa Temples of Florida; and many, many amazing and wonderful friends who were her support system throughout her battle.

Krystal is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather: Leo Miller; step-grandfather: Leonard Smith; and her beloved dog: Sammy.

Krystal was a 2004 graduate of Ottoville High School where she was active in both the boys' and girls' soccer teams, played softball, was the drum major for the marching band and a member of the National Honor Society.  She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and was a member of multiple youth groups.  Krystal graduated in 2012 from the University of Dayton with a degree in visual communications and a minor in journalism.  While on campus she participated in the Christmas on Campus program that served underprivileged children in the Dayton area.

Krystal was a HUGE fan of University Dayton Basketball and Ohio State University Football.  She loved to spend her summers at Marble Lake with her family and friends and loved any water sport.

Krystal began her battle with leukemia during spring break in 2005.  She continued her fight with courage and strength for 11 years, all while living her life to it's fullest.  The family would like to express a sincere appreciation and deep gratitude to the staff of St. Rita's Medical Center.  There have been many staff members who have cared for her since the start of her battle in 2005, all the way through to her most recent stay.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Father Charles Obinwa officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville.  Visitation will be from 12 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
