Larry W. Engard

LEIPSIC – Larry W. Engard, 64, of Leipsic, died 8:10 a.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016, at his Residence. He was born October 2, 1951 in Findlay to Robert and Winifred (Deerwester) Engard. On January 3, 1971, he married Paula Jones who survives in Leipsic.

He is survived by two daughters: Tonia (Gerard) Hovest of Pandora,  Tracy (Dave) Coil of Leipsic, ten grandchildren: Travis (Stacy) Hovest, Ben Hovest, Bud Hovest,  Eli Hovest, Brittany Bermudez, Toria Hovest, Amanda Coil, Jodi Coil, Abby Coil, Nathan Coil; six great-grandchildren: Aiden Hovest, Claire Hovest, Brooklynn Weis, Destiny Paniagua, Teira Paniagua, Bryson Coil; four siblings: Jim (Jane) Engard of Leipsic, Mary Combs of Leipsic, Kathy (Bob) Kohout of Defiance, Bobby Engard of Holgate; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Danny Engard; and a sister: Janet Myers.

Larry was employed with the Village of Leipsic in the Water and Sewer Department, was a former patrolman, assistant Chief, and Chief of the Leipsic Police Department. He was a former West Leipsic Councilman and Mayor. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he was a former Deacon, Trustee, and assisted with the food pantry. He helped with Project Moore at the Leipsic Elementary School.

Funeral Services will begin 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic, with Pastor Terry Steinhauer Sr. officiating, with Rites following by the Putnam County Honor Guard. Visitation will be Monday, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
