Larry A. Johnston

Miller City - Larry A. Johnston, 72, of Miller City passed peacefully on December 16, 2015 at 1:51 a.m. surrounded by family at his home.  He was born June 23, 1943 in Toledo to the late Hazel Johnston.  On April 24, 1965, he married Linda Westrick.  She died December 25, 2014.

Larry, affectionately known as Pops, had a unique look on life and wasn't shy to offer unfiltered commentary.  With no shortage of jokes and one-liners, you could always rely on him for a good laugh.  He loved his family and would endlessly offer his time to help in any way he could.  He enjoyed spending time camping, going out to eat, playing cards, and watching (and cussing at) the Cincinnati Reds.  He was a big supporter of the Miller City Wildcats and loved watching his grandsons play sports.  Larry was a Marine Corp Veteran.  He was a member of the Defiance Am Vets Post #1991, Miller City 300 Club, and a life member of the Marine Corp League in Defiance.  He retired from General Motors in Defiance after 40 years.

Larry is survived by his daughter: Lisa (Jack) Fuka of Miller City; a son: Leroy (Beth) Johnston of Miller City; 4 grandsons: Brady Johnston, Jared Fuka, Cody Johnston, and Drew Johnston.  He was preceded in death by a daughter: Leslie Johnston.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria with Fr. Nick Cunningham officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Military rites by Ottawa American Legion, VFW and Amvets. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with a rosary service at 2 p.m. and Marine Corp League Service at 7 P.M.  both in the Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to Putnam County Hospice.
