GILBOA – Larry A. Phillips, 70, of Gilboa died at 8:11 a.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 2, 1942 in Bluffton to the late Harvey and Lida "Chloe" (Neuenschwander) Phillips. On March 14, 1963 he married Hazel Messer who survives in Ottawa.
Also surviving are 2 children: Greg (Tracey) Phillips of Gilboa and Lanette (Craig) Closson of Ottawa; 6 grandchildren: Heidi Phillips, Jessica Silye, Samantha Phillips, Eli Phillips, Tesse Paniagua, and Jordan Closson. He was also preceded in death by his brother: Paul Phillips.
Larry retired after 37 years from Louisiana-Pacific and was a farmer. He was a member of Ottawa Eagles; Indian Lake Moose; Ottawa Sons of the American Legion; Leipsic Fishing and Hunting Club, Tri-State Gun Collectors; NRA and a social member of the Ottawa VFW. He was a special police officer for the Ottawa Police Department for 20 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. Burial will be at a later date in Harman Cemetery.
