Laura V. Recker

GLANDORF – Laura V. Recker, 97, of Glandorf died 3:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021 at The Meadows of Ottawa.  She was born October 21, 1923 in Continental to the late Bernard H. and Mary G. (Bockrath) Vennekotter.  On February 27, 1946 she married Joseph H. Recker.  He died July 3, 2001.

Survivors include eleven children: Dennis (Irene) Recker, Karen (Robert) Siefker, Duane Recker, Clair Recker, Lorraine (Karl) Schroeder, Brenda (Joe) Schumaker, Lois (Deacon Doyle) Erford, Joseph D. (Dr. Anna Horstman) Recker, Mark (P.A. Marilyn) Recker, Frederick (Teresa) Recker and N. P. Laura Jo (Michael) Schroeder; a daughter-in-law, Linda Recker; 58 grandchildren; Kimberly (Ben) Gerken, Dr. Allison (Sean) Swisher, Dr. Angela (Jason) Zielinski, Marci (Abe) Gerken, Amber (Curt) Davis, Matthew (Holly) Recker, Dr. Anthony "T.J" (Kim) Recker, Derek Recker, Dr. Arlene (Dr. R. J.) She was also preceded in death by a son, Brice Recker J.D.; five siblings: Oscar (Esther) Vennekotter, Otto (Maria) Vennekotter, Bertha (Isadore) Schnipke, Norbert (Thelma) Vennekotter and Florence (Jim) Verhoff; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Ellerbrock.

Laura was a homemaker and Valedictorian of her 1941 graduating class at Palmer High School, Miller City.  She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and its altar rosary society, Catholic Ladies of Columbia Cuba #221, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Charter member, Eagles #2234 Auxiliary and DAV Auxiliary.

Memorial mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 1, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating.  The funeral will be live streamed through the church's Facebook page. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:30  a.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, OTTAWA.
