Lawrence J. Dranchak

CONTINENTAL—Lawrence J. Dranchak, 86, of Continental died 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Meadows of Kalida.  He was born September 1, 1929 in Scranton, PA to the late John and Rose (Barron) Dranchak.  On August 14, 1954 he married Leota M. Zimmerman who died August 17, 1999.  Also preceding him in death are a sister:  Betty Dranchak and step-mother:  Catherine Dranchak.

He is survived by his children:  Diana Dranchak of Ottawa and John L. Dranchak of Englewood, CO; sister: Dorothy McGuire of Scranton, PA.

Lawrence was a retired engineer for Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, MI.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Continental and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.  Lawrence was a Master Gardener, a member of the Republican Committee Club and the Continental American Legion.  He was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Engineering from the Indiana Institute of Technology, Fort Wayne, IN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Continental with Father Mark Hoying officiating.  Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental, where military rites will be by the Continental American Legion.  Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and again Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
