LEON R. BUTLER
OTTAWA, FORMERLY OF LEIPSIC - Leon R. Butler, 69, of Ottawa, formerly of Leipsic, died 5:50 pm, Friday, March 29, 2013 at The Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf. He was born September 17, 1943 in Lima to Elton Jr. and Margaret E. (Stoepfel) Butler. His father is deceased and his mother survives in Leipsic. On July 19, 1969 he married Catherine (Romaker) Schreiber. She survives in Leipsic. On June 5, 1993 he married Connie (Maag) Albright Butler and she survives in Ottawa.
Other survivors include his children: Tim (Deb) Butler, Mike (Chris) Butler, Patrick Butler and Samantha (Sammy) Hollan all of Leipsic; 3 step-children: Jake (Lisa) Albright of Holland, Lisa Baker of Bowling Green and John Albright II of Lima; 10 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 5 siblings: Patricia (Rev. Dr. Thomas M.) McDonald, Steve (Debra) Butler, Sandy (Roger) Mansfield, Tom (Ophie) Butler all of Leipsic, and Joe (Deb) Butler of Napoleon.
He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Faith Breelyn Rieman.
Mr. Butler worked for Philips Display Components for 29 years and also drove truck for the Butler Brothers and others. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and Ottawa Knights of Columbus. His dream was to build his own airplane. He loved motorcycles, fishing and NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon. Most of all, he loved his family.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Rev. Dr. Thomas McDonald will provide the eulogy. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, LEIPSIC. A scripture service will begin at 2:30 and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
