Leona I. Salyers

CONTINENTAL – Leona I. Salyers, 83, of Continental, passed away at 4:25 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2025, at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born July 5, 1942, in Scott County, Virginia to the late Harold and Beulah Faye (Sullins) Salyer. On March 5, 1961, she married Evert L. Salyers, who preceded her in death on April 5, 2006.

She is survived by four children: Pamela Salyers of Versailles, Patricia (Eric) Morrison of Continental, Thomas (Julie) Salyers of Evansport and Harold (Lovella) Salyers of Lima; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Lo Jean (Dan) Schroeder of Ottawa and Judy Salyer of Hicksville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Allen Salyers; a grandchild, Samantha Salyers; a great-grandchild, River Mahan; five brothers: Bill, Johnny, Macarthur, Chuck and Harold Salyer; and five sisters: Naomi Porter, Wilma Brashear, Della Bevins, Nell Dockery and Carol Salyer.

Leona retired from Campbell Soup Company, Napoleon. She enjoyed playing Bingo, listening to country music and attending local Methodist churches.

Funeral services will begin 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2025 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Pastor Jim Hiltner officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
