Lila Copeland
Ottawa -- Lila Copeland, 90, of Ottawa died 1:00 p..m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at her residence.  She was born July 4, 1923 in Findlay, OH to the late George and Doris (Hollister) Thompson.  In 1946 she married Joseph G. Copeland, who preceded her in death on February 12, 1989.
She is survived by her sons:  David Copeland of Lima, Dennis (Maria) Copeland of Florida, and Michael (Lora) Copeland of Grand Rapids, OH; 11 Grandchildren; 10 Great-grandchildren; 2 sisters:  Jeannette Beggs of Lima and Joan Bowersock of Lima;  and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kistler, who were her daily caregivers.
Lila is preceded in death by 4 brothers:  Gale, Leslie, Myron and Everett Thompson and a grandson:  Joey Copeland.
Lila was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa.  Lila's passion was helping children at Ottawa Elementary School, where she has actively been a volunteer each week for nearly 20 years.  She looked forward to seeing the children and helping them with reading.  Teachers Sue Bice and Marsha Goecke were her dear friends who watched over her, even when the school day was over.  She was also an avid bridge player and loved to golf.
The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Rev. Bill Patterson officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014. Love Funeral Home,Ottawa,Oh.
