Linus George Rosengarten

NEW CLEVELAND - Linus George Rosengarten, 97, of New Cleveland died at 4:05 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at Bridge Hospice Findlay Care Center. He was born August 24, 1920 in Leipsic to the late Henry and Frances (Kreinbrink) Rosengarten. On November 15, 1944 he married Arlene R. Niese who died March 26, 2008.

He is survived by four daughters, Karen (Clyde) Loughridge of Cleveland, Joyce Boff of Indianapolis, IN, Mary Ann (Pat Kidd) Hermiller  of Lima, and Kathy (Jim) Colasanti of Ottawa; seven grandchildren, Jason Noirot, Todd Noirot, Randy Hermiller, Ryan Boff, Jenny Hermiller, Megan Horton, and Lisa Hermiller; ten great-grandchildren, Kobe Noirot, Triston Joost, Ayden Boff, Kendall Noirot, Kylie Creller, Mason Noirot, Miley Noirot, Noelle Hermiller, Bristol Hermiller, Taylor Noirot, and one great-granddaughter on-the-way; a brother, Jerry (Lucretia) Rosengarten of Ottawa; three sisters-in-law, Doris Rosengarten of Ottawa, Ruth Rosengarten of Glandorf, and Emma Rosengarten of Leipsic. He was also preceded in death by nine brothers, Art (Thelma), Virgil (Ann), Norm (Martha), Tom (Rosalie), Bernie, Jack, Henry (Genie) Rosengarten, and infants, Albert and Carl Rosengarten; and a sister, Sally (Omer) Recker.

Linus retired from Philips, formerly of Ottawa and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland, its Holy Aid Society, and was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a life member of the Ottawa Knights of Columbus; and both the Glandorf and Leipsic Rod and Gun, and a member of the Ottawa VFW, American Legion, and Polka Boosters. Linus received the I.B.E.W. Life Saving Award for saving a 2 years old girl from drowning in Canada.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland with Msgr. Charles E. Singler officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites by the Ottawa VFW, American Legion and AMVETS.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a Scripture Service at 1:45 p.m. and a K. of C. rosary service at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.
