Lois A. Halker
OTTAWA – Lois A. Halker, 64, of Ottawa died at 4:20 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2012 at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa. She was born September 22, 1948 in Lima to the late Dr. Amos and Louise (Quinn) Kottenbrock. On December 20, 1969, she married William "Bill" Halker and he survives in Ottawa. Also surviving are 2 daughters: Christie (David) Tabler and Shannon (Travis) Horstman both of Columbus Grove; 4 grandchildren: Alexander, Ryan and Cody Tabler, William Horstman and one on the way; 2 sisters: Karen (Jerry) Meyer of Ottawa, Jane (Ronald) Korte of Columbus Grove; and 2 brothers: John (Diane) Kottenbrock and Jim Kottenbrock both of Ottawa.
Lois retired after 40 years as a kindergarten teacher with 35 years at Columbus Grove and her last 5 years at St. Anthony's in Columbus Grove. She loved each and every student she had. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of Columbus Grove VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Lima ELKS Auxiliary. She was a Jennings Scholar. Lois was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed reading and hanging out with her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove with Fr. Tom Extejt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
