Loretta M. Burwell
Ottawa - Loretta M. Burwell, 97, of Ottawa, died 12:39 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Meadows of Kalida.  She was born February 10, 1917 in Cuba, Ohio to the late Frank and Eleanor (Schroeder) Verhoff.  On August 20, 1952, she married Claude Burwell who died October 27, 2007.
Loretta is survived by 2 children: Louann Wood of Ottawa and Bryan (Kathie) Burwell of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and a grandson, Matthew Wood of Findlay.
She is preceded in death by twin brothers: Alfred (Mary) and Wilfred (Alma) Verhoff; and five sisters: Angela (Arnold) Utrup, Frances (Alphonse) Schulte, Mary Ann Verhoff, Florence Verhoff and Edna (Leo) Karhoff.
Loretta was a homemaker.  She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grover and its Altar Rosary Society.   She loved to grow flowers and passed that love on to her daughter.  She loved spending time with her grandson with whom she was very close.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove with Fr. Tom Extejt officiating.   Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Kalida.   Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials may be given to St. Anthony's Building fund or to the charity of the donor's choice.
