Lucille Sands
Leipsic - Lucille Madeline Sands, 83, of Leipsic died at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 at The Meadows of Leipsic.   She was born on July 22, 1930 to the late Archie and Erma Mary (Degraeve) Barbier.  On April 11, 1951, she married Dale Sands who passed away on June 22, 1973.
Lucille is survived by her 8 children: Micky (David) Hannah of Granville; Tamara (Michael) Steffan of Leipsic; Jonathan (Ann) Sands of Knightdale, North Carolina; Cindy (David) Diener of Marysville; Christine (Roger) Steffan of Leipsic; Jenni (Bob) Wilson of Jenera; Judi (Larry) Grant of Westerville and Janine (David) Keller of  Key West, Florida; 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one to be; a sister: Alice Courtright Baughman of Mansfield and many nieces and nephews.  She is also preceded in death by 4 brothers: Jule, Andy, George and Donny Barbier; a sister: Mary Barbier and a granddaughter: Sarah Anne Selhorst.
Lucille was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic.  She served as Altar Rosary President, Eucharistic Minister and Lector.  She worked for many years as a cook at Leipsic Local School and  the Leipsic Branch Library.  She enjoyed baking cookies, sewing receiving blankets for grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reading mystery novels, solving crossword puzzles and the daily word jumble from the newspaper, and helping others.  She took great pride in her children's accomplishments and having a clean home.  She was also a Social member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin  at  10:00 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014  at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic, with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic, where there will be an Altar Rosary and CL of C rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic and Edwards Gamper Memorial Library.
