Lupe L. Moreno

OTTAWA – Lupe L. Moreno, 89 of Ottawa, passed away at 6:57 a.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  She was born on February 13, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Martin and Monica (Contreras) Lara.  On September 8, 1951, she married Apolonio Moreno Sr., he preceded her in death on November 20, 2010.

Lupe is survived by six children: Beatrice "Teresa" (Terry) Schroeder of Ottawa, Ester Moreno of Lima, Carmen Moreno of Spokane, WA, Martin Moreno of Lima, Edward Moreno of Ottawa, and Apolonio (Kathryn) Moreno Jr. of McComb; twenty-seven grandchildren; seventy-five great-grandchildren; nineteen great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Juanita Cardnas of Houston, TX, and Anna (Paul) Ramirez of San Antonio, TX.

She is also preceded in death by a son, Paul Moreno; a daughter, Margaret "Margie" Moreno; two grandchildren, Rebecca Moreno, and Chaz Moreno; siblings, Martin Lara, Raymond Lara, Ratugio Lara, Sara Fuentes, Maria Martinez, Frank Lara, John Lara, Ermenio Lara, Cecilio Lara, and Maximo Lara.

Lupe was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf.  She was a homemaker, and enjoyed quilting, crocheting and floral arranging.  She was a member of the Ottawa VFW Auxiliary.  Lupe loved spending time with her family.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  A visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, with a scripture service at 1:45 p.m.
